Lars Frølund appointed Affiliate Professor at the Niels Bohr Institute
Europe develops many of the technologies of the future. But far too often, the United States or China builds the companies, attracts the investment and reaps the rewards.
That is why the University of Copenhagen has appointed Lars Frølund to the Niels Bohr Institute. He becomes the first Affiliate Professor in the university’s history with a dedicated focus on innovation.
Lars Frølund brings experience from the prestigious American university MIT and has worked with innovation ecosystems in both the EU and NATO. He will draw on this experience from leading international environments to strengthen the link between research, innovation and industry – particularly within deep tech and quantum technology.
Ideas of world-class quality
Lars Frølund is optimistic about Europe:
"If Europe were a startup, investors would see a strong team with great potential. We have ideas of world-class quality – and we have what it takes to turn them into companies that can grow large," he says.
In his inaugural lecture, Lars Frølund focused on technological sovereignty and argued that the University of Copenhagen should explore the possibility of establishing a fund to bring research and innovation closer together.
